Sterling China was in business in Liverpool, Ohio, from 1917 to around 2006.

This is the only Sterling piece I've seen with a flip-top lid (unmarked), and it is among the small number of flips that are wide and low: 5 5/8" wide by 2 1/4" high.

The bowl was distributed by John L. Pasmantier and Sons of New York City. They were in business from 1898 to 1982 and were known distributors of Sterling China. This backstamp was in use between 1932 and the 1970s.
